TIPPSI

The Tilburg Person Perception Stimulus Inventory

Currently under construction

214Diverse sample of Dutch adults
44Types of stimuli
53Types of personal characteristics

The Tilburg Person Perception Stimulus Inventory was created at Tilburg University (NL) by Bastian Jaeger, Thora Bjornsdottir, Vít Třebický, and Debbie Ma. TIPPSI was created for use in scientific research only.

A unique feature of the database, compared to other available databases, is that it not only contains a diverse set of stimuli (e.g., various photos and videos), but also a large set of trait scores for all targets (e.g., data on their personality, cognitive ability, and well-being).

The database includes stimuli and data on personal characteristics for a sample of 214 Dutch adults. Regarding gender and age, the sample is fairly representative of the Dutch population.

  • Age range: 18 – 84
  • Average age: 49
  • 52% female, 46% male, 2% other

Terms of use

  1. The database (i.e., the stimuli and the accompanying information on targets) may be used for non-commercial, scientific research purposes only.
  2. The database may not be (re-)distributed individually or in bulk under any circumstances, in original or modified form. If collaborators or other individuals would like to access the database, they should request access to it via this form.
  3. The database materials may not be re-distributed to third parties, including, but not limited to, file hosting services or cloud-based image manipulation services. An important implication of these terms is that you cannot upload any materials to artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, or to cloud-based image editing software, such as Pixlr.
  4. Users should store the database on a secure and password-protected device. The database should only be stored for the duration of a research project. Upon completion of a research project, the database has to be deleted. If the database is needed for future research, users can download the database again.
  5. The identity of the individuals in the database is protected and users are not allowed to attempt to identify or contact them.
  6. If the stimuli are associated with other materials during a study (e.g., a photo is displayed next to a fictitious CV, or study participants read a vignette and are asked to imagine that the person in the photo acts in a certain way), participants have to be informed about the fictitious nature of the setup. That is, the debriefing should clarify that the individuals shown in the stimuli are actually not associated with the other materials, and that they merely provided their data and stimuli for research purposes in general.
  7. Tilburg University and the authors of the database are not responsible for any damage that may be caused by the use of the database. The user is liable for any misuses of the data that may occur.
  8. Research papers or other outputs that use the database should cite the following paper: [Placeholder: citation will be included here once the paper is published]
